Good Faith Estimate for Psychotherapy Services
Under the No Surprises Act, healthcare providers are required to provide clients who are not using insurance or are uninsured with a "Good Faith Estimate" of expected charges for services. This estimate helps you understand the potential costs of psychotherapy services before beginning treatment.

What Is a Good Faith Estimate?

A Good Faith Estimate outlines the expected costs of psychotherapy services. While this estimate reflects the anticipated charges, actual costs may vary depending on session frequency, treatment duration, and unforeseen changes in your care needs.

Your Rights Under the Law:

-
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the expected cost of any non-emergency mental health services.
-
If your actual charges exceed the Good Faith Estimate by $400 or more, you have the right to dispute the bill.
-
You may request a Good Faith Estimate at any time, even if services have not yet been scheduled.
What the Estimate Includes:

-
Session Type: Individual, couples, or family therapy
-
Session Length: Typically 55 minutes
-
Session Fee: Current rates per session, detailed upon request
-
Frequency of Sessions: Based on the treatment plan developed with your therapist
-
Estimated Duration: Depending on your therapeutic goals and progress
Important Considerations:

-
The Good Faith Estimate is not a contract and does not obligate you to receive services.
-
Your treatment plan may evolve, impacting the frequency or number of sessions.
-
Additional services beyond standard therapy sessions, such as assessments, reports, or consultations, may incur separate charges.
Dispute Resolution:

If you receive a bill that is $400 or more above your Good Faith Estimate, you can initiate a billing dispute by contacting the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services at 1-800-985-3059 or visiting www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
